Carl Gustaf M-2 8.4cm De-milled Recoilless Rifle (de-milled)
The Carl Gustaf is a recoilless rifle originally made as an anti-tank weapon. It has subsequently been upgraded for multi-mission capability with the addition a large variety of munition types. This highly capable weapon is currently in production as the M-3 and M-4 as used by the US Army and other nations.
Unlike most other shoulder fired anti-tank weapons which fire rockets, the Carl Gustaf is a breach loaded rifle. The “recoilless” function is obtained by allowing a proportion of the propellent gases to vent to the rear offsetting the inertia of the exiting projectile.
This M-2 Carl Gustaf was made for the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and has seen light service. It is equipped with the original German made 3x scope and is in very good condition.
De-milling was performed by a neatly drilled bore-sized hole under the shoulder pad that is not visible and a blocking bar welded inside the tube.
Carl Gustafs are no longer available due to the war in Ukraine.
