WWII M1939 37mm Anti-Aircraft (de-milled)

The Model 1939 is a licensed-built Rheinmetall 37mm anti-aircraft gun made in Romania by Astra. Only a few hundred were produced.

Most likely, the licensing and tooling were part of a trade agreement with Germany for strategic materials or commodities, similar to arrangements with other neutral countries early in the war. Oil was probably the main commodity.

This M1939 was part of a small group imported 20 years ago. All serial numbers match, and it has seen little use. The dark green paint on the carriage appears original. The gun was polished and blued when new, but the de-milling was very thorough, and the cosmetic restoration has left little of the original blued finish.

Included with the cannon is the original maintenance and spare parts set, which is a rare item to still be available.

It is totally nonfunctional, as is all of our artillery. It displays very well.
